Trump claims the US is taking over the Strait of Hormuz; Iran rejects US intervention.

US President Trump said the US is taking over the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian military, however, said it will not allow US interference in the strait's administration.

"We're taking over the Strait of Hormuz," Trump told Fox News on Monday (July 13). "They (the Iranians) have nothing."

He also revealed that the Iranian side held an 11-hour meeting the day before, and "all matters were agreed upon," but immediately went back on their word after the meeting, saying they would make changes.

He complained, "It takes 11 hours to have a meeting with these Iranians. It's impossible to resolve anything with just a sentence, an hour, or even a minute."

The central headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, Hatam Anbia, issued a statement through state media saying that it would not allow the United States to interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement said that any attempt by the U.S. military to send personnel through the Strait of Hormuz outside of Iran's designated routes without the coordination of the Iranian armed forces would be met with strong resistance.
